Jehovah in Psalms 23

Jehovah in Psalms 23
Sermon Outline

Psalm 23King James Version (KJV)
23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

The Lord is my Shepard: Jehovah Roi,

John 10:11-14King James Version (KJV)
11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.
12 But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
14 I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

3 He restoreth my soul:

Jehovah Rophi—-My Healer

Psalm 103: 1-5 King James Version (KJV)

3 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
4 Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
5 Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.

Exodus 15:26
And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

Jehovah Jireh—-The Lord My Provider
What am I going to do????

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want
My God provides when we seek him. Bonnie and I have been in positions where we needed the Lord to come through and there was nothing / no not anything anyone could do, but God could, he provided a way that we never even saw.

Genesis 22:13-14King James Version (KJV)
13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.
14 And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the Lord it shall be seen

We must walk by faith into the blessings of the Lord, even when at first we cannot see the blessings.

Jehovah Nissi—The Lord My Banner

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over

Exodus 17:9-16King James Version (KJV)
9 And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.
10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12 But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
14 And the Lord said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovah Nissi:
16 For he said, Because the Lord hath sworn that the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.

We all fight battles, whether at work, in our ministry, children, marriage,…no matter we have battles.
There is a reason, why we raise our hands in praise… There is victory in the praise, we get the victory, the devil gets defeated. It happens time and time again.
When we walk into fellowship with HIM, we need not have anything else on our mind.
The sacrifice of praise!!
